Langebaan is home to the West Coast National Park which has stunning views of the lagoon, a wide variety of wildlife and is one of the worlds most important sites for migratory birds. The West Coast National Park has wonderful cycling paths, great beaches, and good hiking. The weather and the waters of the lagoon are generally a little warmer than the open ocean which make it an ideal place for windsurfing, kite surfing, sailing, kayaking, and many other water sports. The annual 'Downwind Dash' is recognized as the worlds biggest windsurf/kite surf events and attracts over 300 entrants.
